PRODUCER TIP: In Ableton Live, when trying to humanize percussive elements such as "Hi-Hats, Toms, Snare Grooves" etc it is very wise to use Ableton's own built in #TrackDelay.
Track delay is a wonderful way of delaying the audio either behind or ahead of the beat. If you've ever seen the movie Whiplash you'll know what I am talking about.
"Are you rushing or are you dragging?"
This works amazingly when trying to create a groove or a more humanized sound instead of everything just being straight four to the floor which can make everything feel very robotic and unnatural.
Using Ableton's Track Delay as well as changing the actual velocity of the hi hats is a 100% sure way to reach a successful result when programming your drums.
I will be posting more tutorial videos on my website www.djfuriousstylez.com.
NOTE: Track Delay also really works well on Basslines which can create such an amazing groove. Give it a shot and make sure to tell me what you think.
Happy producing my friends. One Luv. #chea
